Among those shut out of US national parks today are members of the infamous white supremecist group, the Ku Klux Klan. The KKK had planned to hold a demonstation at Gettysburg National Military Park, the site of the largest battle of the American civil war. The fact that the group, once known for their white hoods and cross burnings, was granted a permit for the event had caused a minor media stir. Park officials defended the decision by stating that the battlefield is public property, and the constitution protects the rights of groups such as the KKK to demonstrate publically.
