Ja šis "Un tieši tāpēc es vēlos aicināt – mūsdienu sievietes, kad izvēlaties kādu, kam mēģināt līdzināties, neņemiet par piemēru Margaritu Tečeri. Izvēlieties Evu Peronu, izvēlēties Ulriki Meinhofu vai princesi Diānu. Izvēlēties kādu dzejnieci, rakstnieci vai vijolnieci. Neizvēlieties dzelzs lēdiju. Izvēlieties kādu jauku, sievišķīgu un ar labu sirdi." nebija ļoti izsmalcināts joks vai sarkasms, tad autoram ir ļoti eupatnējs skatījums (izcēlums tekstā mans).

Domāts visnotaļ nopietni. Jo autora varoņu sarakstā parādās arī Čavess, un izrādās, ka Tečerei bija pazemīgi jānoskatās kā savas ambīcijas realizē Argentīnas astoņdesmito gadu sākuma režīms, kam, lai noturētos pie varas, ar pašu civiliedzīvotāju slaktiņu izrādījās par maz, un tāpēc šie nolēma izspēlēt nelielu, bet uzvarošu kariņu.

Vienīgais, kas man visā šitajā nepatīk, ir tas, ka 100% par vīrieti neviens neļautos (neiedomātos, jo tas tak būtu normāli!) runāt un zūdīties.

Agreed - I don't have anything much to say about her: well, I hated her. But now... apathy, really. She welcomed all that hate, by the way. Stored it up and used it against us as she pitted us against each other: she shafted the poor, she shafted the workers, she ripped up industry and freed the City... and most of all, she said it was all our fault if it wasn't working for us. She just went one step too far with the Poll tax (same flat rate municipal tax regardless of income). If she'd gotten away with that she had have gone for the National Health Service for sure. She said there was no such thing as society as she placed half of the North on the dole. She supported apartheid, she supported Saddam Hussein, she adored Pinochet, and she made half the country mock those who gave a shit about something - all the while wrapping herself up in the Union Jack.

You can love her for the geopolitical comings and goings, but, look... what have you got here: Thatcherism - finance dominated economy, offshore corporate tax evasion, working poor getting by on short-term, high interest credit. And, of course, if it isn't working for you, it's all your fault. Just "get on your bike" and fuck off somewhere else (and if you can bust another country's union movement, all the better). So, she lives on - you Latvians just never had to hear her voice in your head.

Tiem, kas mani pazist: esmu Brits un man ir 43 gadi - so, you can disagree with me, but.. you weren't there.

A lot of people liked her defeating the unions, and privatising almost everything. Also, if you were part of the boom (North Sea oil and real estate fuelled), you were doing well - those who supported her liked the idea that if you were poor/unemployed it was because you deserved it. They liked the dismantling of the welfare state and the forsaking of the concept of society. The only thing her supporters felt should bind us was the flag. The UK was an extremely divided country, and like I say, she fed off that. You can see it geographically in the voting patterns - the South and East liked her (they didn't have much industry to lose and there was a boom in services and finance etc.). The North hated her - she took industry apart and left them with practically nothing.
