"Simulacra and Simulation" breaks the sign-order into 4 stages:
  1. The first stage is a faithful image/copy, where we believe, and it may even be correct that, a sign is a "reflection of a profound reality" (pg 6), this is a good appearance, in what Baudrillard called "the sacramental order".
  2. The second stage is perversion of reality, this is where we believe the sign to be an unfaithful copy, which "masks and denatures" reality as an "evil appearance - it is of the order of maleficence". Here, signs and images do not faithfully show us reality, but can hint at the existence of something real which the sign itself is incapable of encapsulating.
  3. The third stage masks the absence of a profound reality, where the simulacrum pretends to be a faithful copy, but it is a copy with no original. Signs and images claim to represent something real, but no representation is taking place and arbitrary images are merely suggested as things which they have no relationship to. Baudrillard calls this the "order of sorcery".
  4. The fourth stage is pure simulation, in which the simulacrum has no relationship to any reality whatsoever. Here, signs merely reflect other signs and any claim to reality on the part of images or signs is only of the order of other such claims.

dienas āķīgais jautājums: kurā līmenī Bodr. ieliktu banku sistēmu?

draudzenīte: It's so awesome outside. I was biking home, and I thought I saw a dementor but it turned out to be a woman wearing a burqa.

šodien migla, tātad.

vēl viens superīgs citāts, tā pati filma:

Martins: I was going to stay with him, but he died Thursday.
Crabbin: Goodness, that's awkward.
Martins: Is that what you say to people after death? "Goodness, that's awkward"?

Harry Lime: Don't be so gloomy. After all it's not that awful. Like the fella says, in Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock. So long Holly.

man ir pazudis maks, es esmu nervoza un iespringusi, tāpēc tagad iešu mazliet, mazliet iedzert. sēžu centrālstacijā, jo man patīk darīt muļķīgas lietas, un šeit ir tik neaptverami daudz mušu, ka pretīgi paliek. bet vispār ne jau par slikto es gribēju rakstīt, bet gan par to, cik ļoti man patīk klāvs elsbergs. it sevišķi tādās lietainās un mazliet īgnās dienās kā šī, un es sapratu, ka vajag sapurināties un piezvanīt. pat ja mani viņš atšūs un vispār būs traki, es vismaz būšu darījusi to, kas manos spēkos. es nevaru skatīties, kā kāds savu dzīvi un talantus aizlaiž postā, un ja kaut kas ir iespējams, es to mēģināšu darīt, lai to nepieļautu. lai arī tas maksās manu pašcieņu.

He was moved by his redhead's meager, shabby wardrobe and he saw the plainness of her clothes as part of her charm (the charm of simplicity and poverty), as well as the charm of his own love. He told himself that it was not too difficult to love somebody sophisticated, lovely, elegantly dressed: such a love was a meaningless reflex automatically stimulated by the accident of beauty. But a great love seeks to create a beloved out of an imperfect creature, a creature all the more human for her imperfections.

es atvainojos, ka cibu esmu pārvērtusi tādā skolas piezīmju blociņā, bet ir the final countdown un, tā kā viss ir internetos, slinkums vilkt ārā blociņu un visu pierakstīt kārtīgi tur.

lf I were not afraid of being thought irreverent, I should say that Christ, had He a camera in His hand, would not shoot fables, however wonderful, but would show us the good ones and the bad ones of this world - in actuality, giving us close-ups of those who make their neighbours' bread too bitter, and of their victims, if the censor allowed it.

(Zavattini, Some Ideas on Cinema)
un vēl: I am against 'exceptional' personages. The time has come to tell the audience that they are the true protagonists of life. The result will be a constant appeal to the responsibility and dignity of every human being. Otherwise the frequent habit of identifying oneself with fictional characters will become very dangerous. We must identify ourselves with what we are. The world is composed of millions of people thinking of myths.

- that's one of my biggest fears. if I ever woke up as a doughnut...
-  you would eat yourself.
- I wouldn't even question it.
- mmm... that would be tasty.
- it's cool to know that other people think about this stuff, too.

damn, Troy&Abed no Community ir satriecošs komplekts, un tas seriāls paliek arvien smieklīgāks ar katru sēriju.

lasu pagalam garlaicīgu eseju komunikācijai, un še tev, skaists citāts iekšā.
As John Hlinko, founder of ActForLove.org, an Internet dating site for liberals put it,
“Politics is a proxy for your basic values. This is what people care about. If you don’t
share the same core values as someone, it’s going to be really tough for (a relationship)
to take off.” Similar Web sites such as Conservativematch.com, SingleRepublicans.com
and LiberalHearts.com, also suggest that although looking for love may be a nonpar-
tisan endeavor, for some politics serves as a useful shorthand. (Mutz 2006; 48)

In Romania during February 2004, several relatives of Toma Petre feared that he had become a vampire. They dug up his corpse, tore out his heart, burned it, and mixed the ashes with water in order to drink it.
 labi, ka es nedzīvoju Rumānijā.

kaut kā sanāca ieklīst īberta kunga blogā, paskatījos, kādas pēdējā laika filmas viņš ir recenzējis (the human centipede recenzija, piemēram, bija ārkārtīgi noderīga - es sapratu, ka kaut ko tādu nekad mūžā pati neskatītos, līdz ar to labi, ka viņš to ir redzējis un var pastāstīt, cik cilvēki ir tiešām slimi), un intereses pēc izlasīju viņa Eclipse recenziju. un šī rindkopa pilnīgi uztaisīja manu dienu.

Much leads up to a scene in a tent on a mountaintop in the midst of a howling blizzard, when Bella’s teeth start chattering. Obviously a job for the hot-blooded Jacob and not the cold-blooded Edward, and as Jacob embraces and warms her, he and Edward have a cloying cringe fest in which Edward admits that if Jacob were not a werewolf, he would probably like him, and then Jacob admits that if Edward were not a vampire — well, no, no, he couldn’t. Come on, big guy. The two of you are making eye contact. Edward’s been a confirmed bachelor for 109 years. Get in the brokeback spirit.

es tā domāju par tām visām lietām, kas man būtu jāņem līdzi, un sapratu, ka es nekādā gadījumā nekur nevarētu aizbraukt bez tām dažām grāmatām, kas ir tik ļoti man palīdzējušas tikt galā ar sevi. es nekur nevarētu aizbraukt uz ilgāku laiku bez Keruaka On the Road, Kaningema Mājas pasaules malā, ko esmu sākusi pārlasīt katru rudeni - tik satriecoši, ka joprojām atklājas jauni slāņi un jaunas idejas -, vai Bariko Okeāns jūra, iespējams, es pat varētu kādu laiku iztikt bez Adamsa Hitchhiker's guide, bet Elsberga un Vācieša dzeja un Ziedoņa epifānijas gan nevar palikt mājās. un es taču saprotu, ka laikam prātīgāk būtu paņemt kādu papildu kurpju pāri grāmatu vietā, bet nē. ir teksti, kuri man saņemties un justies labi palīdzētu vairāk par pierastām lupatām un kurpītēm. es tikko pārlasīju visādus citātus no On the road, mani joprojām fascinē, ka tas romāns ir kā vienā elpas vilcienā izlasāms teikums. tik piesātināts, tik traks, tik neparedzams, tik dzīvs.
