It is news if a white kid shoots someone at school. Blacks or Hispanic? It's like a car accident, i.e. not even covered by the local news, let alone national news.
The funny thing is, here in the US, when the story first hits the news and race is not known, it is a "breaking news!" story with promises of "further updates as soon as we know more" from news anchors with concerned looks on their faces. But you'll only get a follow-up if it's some crazy white kid who played too much DOOM and the liberals can use it as an excuse to wring their hands and demand stricter gun control laws. If it's just some black kid shooting another black kid over some Instagram beef (in other words, like 90% of school shootings in the US), you never get the follow-up.
