vēstule Robertam :
I would like to say some words on the peculiarities of lakes of Latvia:
1) Some are very shallow lagoon lakes with strong marine impact (Kisezers, Juglas, Kanieris, Liepajas);
2) generally lakes are quite shallow, many of them shifting from clear water state to turbid state (good phytoplankton community due to influence of macrophytes);
3) generally quite high alkalinity – 2-3 - (4) meq/l;
4) enerally quite high humic content (we consider boundary between clear and brown lakes as 80-100 mg Pt/l but “true” humic lakes can have values as high as 500 – 700 mg Pt/l (specific phytoplankton and macrophyte community due to high humic content)
