The closest word for the state that occurs when months of failing to uncover the roots of a problem that effectively halts one’s research and forces one to spend time on little insignificant things finally and abruptly end; the feeling of having a brand new solution for a problem that has become far too familiar and ingrained in all of one’s thoughts and even dreams, is “exaltation”, more or less in both senses of the word. This won’t be easy and not a few nights will be spent rewriting non-trivial codes but there’s a way now, and a point.
