Shared taxis to take night-owls safely home
From now on, anyone who doesn't have a car and wants to get across Brussels at night can call a 'shared taxi' (www.collecto.org). To make this possible, the Brussels authorities have made a contract with the company that runs Taxis Verts. The system works like this: you call 02/800 36 36 and walk to one of the 152 pick-up points. You will be picked up there by a shared taxi that has several other passengers. The big advantage is the price: you pay a fixed price per trip (five euro for short distances, eight for long). These shared taxis run between 11 pm and 6 am and are an addition to the MIVB transport company's night services (Noctis): 21 night buses that will also get you home safely until 3 am on Friday and Saturday nights.
