"Uzzinu pēdējā" - kopš 2011. gada ir aizliegtas redeļu gultiņas ar nolaižamu sānu.

Man ir troll gultiņa ar to nolaižamo malu, galīgi neizskatās, ka tur kaut kas tamlīdzīgs varētu notikt. Gan jau ir ražošanas kaut kādi standarti/regulas.
Veikalos ir redzētas tādas gultiņas, kuras tiešām izjuktu, ja gadu vecs bērns izpildītos ar ierastajiem lēkāšanas trikiem.
+ ar manu 161 cm augumu, vispār ir gandrīz neiespējami izcelt guļošu bērnu nogultas, kura nolaista uz viszemāko līmeni, ja nav nolaižamā barjera.

WASHINGTON — It's the end of the traditional crib that has cradled millions of babies for generations.
The government outlawed drop-side cribs on Wednesday after the deaths of more than 30 infants and toddlers in the past decade and millions of recalls.
Around for decades, drop-side cribs have come under scrutiny in recent years because of malfunctioning hardware, sometimes cheaper plastics, or assembly problems that can lead to the drop-side rail partially detaching from the crib. When that happens, it can create a dangerous "V"-like gap between the mattress and side rail where a baby can get caught and suffocate or strangle.

'These products are deadly'
In all, drop-side cribs have been blamed in the deaths of at least 32 infants and toddlers since 2000 and are suspected in another 14 infant fatalities. In the past five years, more than 9 million drop-side cribs have been recalled, including cribs from big-name companies such as Evenflo, Delta Enterprise Corp., and Pottery Barn Kids.
Michele Witte of Merrick, N.Y., lost her 10-month-old son, Tyler, in 1997 when the drop-side rail on his crib came loose, partially detached and then trapped his neck between the rail and the headboard.

Parents who are using drop-side cribs are advised to check the hardware on the cribs to be certain it's working properly ... The Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association, which represents over 90 percent of the crib industry, says properly assembled drop-sides that haven't been recalled can be safely used.

June 28, 2011 -- There are new standards for the safety of baby cribs. Starting Tuesday, all cribs manufactured and sold in the United States cannot have sides that can be raised or lowered.
It is now also illegal to resell a crib with drop sides, even if it's at a yard sale or a garage sale.

It is a new era in child safety. The United States now has the strictest standards for crib safety in the world. The new rules are designed to assure that all cribs sold will be safe and durable, providing peace of mind to parents and safety for children.
"What has happened in the past, is that the baby can get wedged here between the mattress and this side because it can detach and become loose, and that has been the problem with the drop-sides," said the CPSC's Patty Davis.

Robert and Susan Cirigliano lost their 6-month-old son Bobby when he suffocated in a drop-side.

"The thing was, there was never any warning about these cribs, and after research we found that a lot of these cribs have caused injuries and deaths," said Robert Cirigliano.

At least 32 babies have been killed in drop-side cribs in the past decade. And, in the past five years, 7 million of the cribs have been recalled.
