Close to where sleeps old granny Nokonis, a spider was working on its web. Every day, Nokonis was watching its work. One day, her grandson entered the tent and seeing the spider: "Nokonis-iiya!" and he was ready to kill the spider with his moccasin. "No-kiig8a!" said Nokonis, "Don't hurt it!"
After the child left, the spider said to the granny: "For several days, you watched me and admired my web in construction. And now you save my life. Let me give you a gift." The spider started at once a new web inside a circle made with a white branch of a small tree. "Watch carefully at what I am doing so you can remember it,", was saying the spider to Nokonis, "this web and any similar one should be used to catch up and retain all the bad dreams. Only the good ones will pass through the rounded door in the center. This is my gift. Use it to have good dreams. All the bad ones will stay on the web until next morning when the sun will make them vanish in the air."
