Kopš 80-to beigām un 90-to sākumu latvju humanitāro zinātņu vidē ir savs bubulis. Un vārds šim bubulim ir postmodernisms. Ja vajadzēja vainot kādu par vērtību krīzi vai mākslas pagrimumu, patērētāju sabiedrības veidošanos, popkultūras izplešanos v.tml., tad vaina tika meklēta postmodernismā. Ir interesanti, ka vecākā paaudze vēl joprojām šad un tad diskusijās un runās no azotes izvelk šo bubuli.
Bet liels bija mans pārsteigums, kad izrādījās, ka arī citās zemēs 'postmodernisma stāvoklis' tiek izmantots, lai skaidrotu jebkuru idiotismu:
