The national medical watchdogs are almost fully funded by big pharma. In the 1990's they were largely fully funded publicly (by the taxpayer), but at some stage they started being funded more and more by the foxes they were supposed to watch, until we get the situation today where they are basically just fronts for the pharma syndicate. Same thing happened with financial regulators too, who are basically funded by financial institutions.
