brookings ([info]brookings) rakstīja,
Don't take it personally because what I am going to describe is, I think, fairly universal (it certainly applies to me too). I am just wondering about your last sentence:

("This is the case with most major political issues, and we sincerely believe there that those largely shared beliefs (mostly along the lines of S&D/Greens) are merely the common sense in conditions where simply more background information is available.").

To what extent does this consensus on the position of social democrats and greens reflect your common work positions? I mean you are all public servants (so reliant on the state for salary and possibly sceptical of private enterprise), you work in a supranational institution (you wouldn't want to see it threatened, and therefore are averse to nationalist movements), you have colleagues from all over Europe - and probably beyond (so you are loyal to the multicultural idea). What's more, I would posit that you enjoy order and control and are conscientious (and are therefore prone to view the world in a technocratic manner, and become annoyed with the populous who vote for populists and make your lives more difficult:)).

I could go on - and again - my apologies if you are offended. I'm really just trying to understand what is going on, and as, I say I am no better in this regard - I tend to conflate with what is best for me with what should be best for everyone :)
