The original vaccine doses are no longer authorized according to the FDA. Previously, an unvaccinated person was still required to get the two original doses prior to being able to get the bivalent. This logic seemed strange and may not have made sense, but who are we to question science. The science now dictates that unvaccinated and single dose can jump straight to the bivalent. I am certain this has absolutely nothing to do with needing to increase the very low bivalent uptake after purchasing way too much, nor would it have anything to do with the last remaining monovalent doses expiring. These decisions are always based off of science and it is ever evolving.
