I am pretty sure if there is an outbreak of nationalist governments taking power in the west that start passing and enforcing laws to strengthen their sovereignty, the US, EU, etc will start gearing up the threats to "liberate" those countries if their usual colour revolution tactics are switched off locally. The tones coming out at the moment towards Hungary and Poland are already full of threatening language.
