MEDIA. Bonnier continues to tighten its grip on the Swedish newspaper market. Now the controversial owner family also acquires the Hall Media group, which consists of ten subscription magazines, eight free magazines as well as its own printing and distribution business.

The acquisition of Hall Media is made via Mittmedia - which Bonnier family has owned since last year - and Norwegian Amedia.

The agreement means that Amedia directly acquires 49 percent of the shares in Hall Media. Midmedia, where Amedia owns 20 percent and Bonnier over 80 percent, becomes the owner of the other 51 percent.

- "We are now strengthening a sought-after partnership between important local and regional newspapers in Sweden. The collaboration means that we can keep technology and other costs down, exchange editorial experience and support each other in the advertising market” says Mikael Nestius, Business Manager for Mittmedia, in a press release.

The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. The agreement entered into requires the transaction to be approved by the Swedish Competition Authority.

Hall Media AB is based in Jönköping and with its 70,000 subscribers and over 250,000 daily readers is the leading supplier of local news in Jönköping County, Kronoberg County and Västra Götaland County. The largest daily newspapers are Jönköpings-Posten, Värnamo News, Smålänningen and Falköpings Tidning. The Group has sales of SEK 500 million.

Ex-rabbi wants to infiltrate and "control" SD - wants to make the party more "moderate" and "inclusive"

DOMESTIC. Former rabbi Dan Korn wants to control the ideology of the Swedish Democrats through his participation in Mattias Karlsson's liberal think tank Oikos, he tells Expressen. SD's nationalism should be "moderate and inclusive" and also be used to stop more radical parties from growing.

It was in early February that Mattias Karlsson, former group leader of the Swedish Democrats and known for his mass exterminations of internal critics and his fight against "ideological deviations", launched his think tank "Oikos".

In addition to the controversial SD politician, the board of thought tanks includes people such as Pakistani Naweed Khan, former rabbi Dan Korn and communist Malcom Kyeyune.

In a new interview with Expressens Torbjörn Nilsson, Dan Korn explains that the Sweden Democrats are becoming a power factor, the largest party in Sweden, and that it has therefore become time for people like him to step in and control the party's direction.

On February 24, Korn in Sydsvenskan wrote that:

- "It was Per Albin Hansson's conscious allusion to national sentiment with the vernacular that prevented Nazis from taking office in the Riksdag in the 1930s, and SD's moderate and inclusive nationalism is today the best guarantee that real Nazis will not have influence."

In the same way, through his participation in Mattias Karlsson's thought media, he wants to try to control the SD and ensure that the party does not turn to a more radical nationalism. By influencing the Sweden Democrats he also wants to "set the hook" for Nazis. He even thinks that SD's so-called right flank is the most important defense in Swedish politics today.

Korn also reveals that it was SD leader Jimmie Åkesson who brought him along with Mattias Karlsson.

Torbjörn Nilsson's conclusion about what the former rabbi does in the think tank is that Korn sees himself as "a knight who rides out". Dan Korn wants to save the party from ideological "delusions" and "educate Mattias Karlsson", Nilsson writes, pointing out that the ex-rabbi aims to make SD's nationalism "moderate and inclusive".

- "To influence the Swedish Democrats is the most effective way to influence today, to control the power that already exists", says Dan Korn to Expressen.

He also talks about his own views and claims, among other things, that the Sweden Democrats have mistakes that are scared off by Islam. According to him, it is completely unlikely that any religion other than Christianity will be able to shape Sweden. He further claims that Islam can "solve" the problem of culture of honor, since this phenomenon he says has to do with clans and not with religion itself. Dan Korn says he is trying to talk Mattias Karlsson to justice, among other things about Swedish culture, a question that the former rabbi believes the SD summit has partly misunderstood.
