Another Scientific study now confirms: Crime depends on genetics

Published July 2, 2019 at 12:48
LAW & RIGHT. A Dutch-Swedish twin study states that the propensity for teenagers to violate laws and regulations is primarily determined by genetic factors.

In Sweden, politicians, bureaucrats and journalists agree that it is "socio-economic factors" that explain why some become criminals and others do not.

However, this left-wing idea is repeatedly refuted by serious research - most recently in a study from the Netherlands.

The researchers have studied about 4,000 pairs of twins between the ages of 13 and 17 to find out how genetics, culture and unique environmental factors affect the propensity for abusive behavior.

The result showed that there was no support whatsoever for any cultural or environmental impact. In contrast, genetics explains at least 60 percent of the difference in offensive behavior in teenagers.

A large Swedish study conducted by Amir Sariaslan at Karolinska Institutet in 2014 came to a similar conclusion. The study showed that there was indeed a correlation between poverty and crime, but no causal relationship. Instead, both poverty and crime are explained by underlying factors - probably genetic. Close relatives are just as likely to commit crimes regardless of socio-economic background, according to the study.

-"Behavioral genetic investigations have shown that the propensity both for committing violent crimes and engaging in drug abuse is significantly affected by shared genetic factors and, to a lesser extent, family and environmental factors," the KI researchers noted.
