The Guardian published fake news earlier this week, selectively editing quotes from WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange about the Russian press and Donald Trump.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wn5pIkEHPf0Here's a good one. Videos are timestamped:
"Ethics and journalistic responsibility flew out the window when Phil Mudd, a former CIA counterterrorism official, appeared on CNN and he claimed Wikileaks founder Julian Assange is a "pedophile." The CNN program later issued a statement saying they had no evidence to back up the analyst's claim."

...In fact, the police tape was tied to ABC News' own equipment just off-camera, a photograph obtained by CNNMoney shows. Sources with knowledge of the matter say the tape was placed there by ABC News for the purpose of its inclusion in the live shot...

...The note follows intense criticism of the article. It was “rife with obviously reckless and unproven allegations,” Intercept reporters Glenn Greenwald and Ben Norton wrote, calling PropOrNot, one of the groups whose research was cited in Timberg’s piece, “anonymous cowards.” One of the sites PropOrNot cited as Russian-influenced was the Drudge Report....

What’s the problem here? It did not happen.
There was no “penetration of the U.S. electricity grid.” The truth was undramatic and banal. Burlington Electric, after receiving a Homeland Security notice sent to all U.S. utility companies about the malware code found in the DNC system, searched all their computers and found the code in a single laptop that was not connected to the electric grid.

Now we have an even more compelling example. Back in October, when WikiLeaks was releasing emails from the John Podesta archive, Clinton campaign officials and their media spokespeople adopted a strategy of outright lying to the public, claiming — with no basis whatsoever — that the emails were doctored or fabricated and thus should be ignored. That lie — and that is what it was: a claim made with knowledge of its falsity or reckless disregard for its truth — was most aggressively amplified by MSNBC personalities such as Joy Ann Reid and Malcolm Nance, The Atlantic’s David Frum, and Newsweek’s Kurt Eichenwald.
BBChttps://heatst.com/culture-wars/bbc-finally-admits-its-famous-women-write-better-code-story-was-fake-news/BBC Finally Admits Its Famous ‘Women Write Better Code’ Story Was Fake News
The BBC wrote it up and published an article on Feb. 13th under the headline “Women write better code, study suggests.”
The lede read:
“Computer code written by women has a higher approval rating than that written by men – but only if their gender is not identifiable, new research suggests“
...The BBC’s astonishing delay in retracting what was clearly a disingenuous headline, wouldn’t be so much of a problem if the story didn’t get picked up on an astronomical scale.
CBShttp://twitchy.com/brettt-3136/2017/02/04/cbs-news-finds-the-statue-of-liberty-was-intended-to-be-a-muslim-woman-sort-of/What a scoop! CBS News finds the Statue of Liberty was intended to be a Muslim woman, sort of
That headline is quite a stretch. It might seem timely, but it’s not breaking news that French sculptor Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi had at one time pitched the idea of a massive, draped sculpture holding a torch that would act as a lighthouse as the entrance to the Suez Canal.
That project obviously fell through, but Bartholdi held on to the idea and successfully re-pitched it — hardly proof that the Statue of Liberty was “originally intended” to be a Muslim woman.

CBS News is under fire for a radio report on the notorious Chicago Facebook beating which listeners say was so distorted it made the attack sound like it was done by white Trump supporters on a black victim.
