The IOC’s role is:
4.to cooperate with the competent public or private organisations and authorities in the endeavour to place sport at the service of humanity and thereby to promote peace;
5.to take action to strengthen the unity of the Olympic Movement, to protect its independence and to preserve the autonomy of sport;
6.to act against any form of discrimination affecting the Olympic Movement;
10.to oppose any political or commercial abuse of sport and athletes;
13.to encourage and support a responsible concern for environmental issues, to promote sustainable development in sport and to require that the Olympic Games are held accordingly;
14.to promote a positive legacy from the Olympic Games to the host cities and host countries;
15.to encourage and support initiatives blending sport with culture and education;

Organizācija ir pretrunās. Spēles ir politiskas viscauri. Šeit uzskaitītie punkti ir pretrunīgi. Piemēram, 6. punkts - "rīkoties pret jebkādu diskrimināciju, kas ietekmē Olimpisko Kustību". Skaidrs, ka var interpretēt dažādi, ko šeit nozīmē 'ietekmēt' un 'rīkoties'. Kāda ir diskriminācija un tās izpausmes, kas ietekmē Olimpisko Kustību un atbilstoši, kāda ir šīs kustības trajektorija? Tas izskaidrotu, kāpēc SOK prezidents tik cītīgi uzsver, ka tieši neviens sportists, tieši spēļu laikā netiek diskriminēts. Vadoties pēc SOK prezidenta izteikumiem var pieņemt, ka 5. un 10. punkts paredz to, ka Olimpiskā Kustība aptver cilvēci tās būvēto stadionu un sporta laukumu robežās. Tas rada nopietnas grutības saprast un traktēt 4. punktu.
Varbūt par triviāli to piebilst, bet 5. punkts par sporta autonomijas aizsargāšanu un saglabāšanu īsti neatbilst tai realitātei, kādā notiek spēles. It īpaši, kad tiek runāts par lieliskiem drošības pasākumiem un domāts par to iemesliem. Punkts ir vienkārši absurds. Savukārt 15. punkts liek domāt, kur īsti ir velkama robeža starp kultūru, izglītību un politiku.
Nobeigumā, tabloīdu līmenī varētu norādīt, ka 13. punkts par ekoloģiju ir sagumis kā pērnais Soču sniegs. Nav dzirdēts organizācijas viedoklis par Soču parka būvniecības ietekmi uz vidi, bet ir dzirdēts par ietekmi.

Tāpēc SOK prezidenta izteikumi ir tik liekulīgi, cik tie ir. Viscauri. Un BBC intervētājs arī nav uzdevumu augstumos, vai varbūt nemaz necenšas būt, "It's a shame though, isn't it". It is.
