For the last 100 years funding and research efforts have concentrated on methods of detection and palliative therapy. The fact remains that this approach has not been able to contain the rising incidence of almost every type of cancer in the western world. A change in how cancer is viewed is necessary: from one which claims that cancer is a curable disease relatively uninfluenced by environmental factors, to one in which cancer could be prevented through the introduction of relatively simple and cost effective measures that would reduce exposure to environmental toxins.
