Here's what you need to avoid at all costs: the golden handcuffs. Get the shittiest apartment you can find as close to your office as possible; use public transportation; buy your dress clothes on sale from Jos. A. Banks; live like a miser.
Pay off your debt entirely in less than 6 months, and live off 30k or less per year. Stay at the job at least 2 years because anything else looks bad. After your second bonus, gtfo. You'll have 200k in the bank and you can go do something fulfilling and not have to worry about money.
Big Law is a shitty shitty life. Every day I want to fucking die. If I wasn't up to my ears in debt, I would quit this very second. My firm is Top 20; my practice group is number 1. Prestige in big law means nothing but that you're surrounded by the most insufferable 1-dimensional-work-a-holic-strivers and silver-spoon-people-who-know-people-types. Laughably, my first ranks highly for quality of life.
Save your money because you'll want to leave. It will be hard if you've just bought a house and car."
