Progress...
I finished up the purple choker [1] and the kitty/mirror necklace [2] this weekend. Now I can start practice (playing) with the polymer clay without too much guilt. I was inspired by Donna Kato's demonstration at Ornamentea on Friday. My friend and I supplied ourselves with instruction book, tools and polymer clay. After dinner, we set off in search of a pasta machine (used to condition the clay). It became apparent, in the past few months. pasta machines are no longer in vogue. Fryers have become the "in" kitchen toy. After three stops we found one (actually one for each of us). And no, there is no need to ring both machines up together?!? Next it was off to Lowes for a tile to bake the beads on. I'm certain the Lowes dude has never encountered such an odd question. Finally it was back to the house to make some cute swirly black/hot pink beads. [1] Extremely dark purple seeds with pale purple 3mm beads.[2] Mom-in-law collects cats and I thought the necklace would be a good birthday present.
