Demons killed by Krsna and Balarama

Anarthas they represent:

1. Putana ( Chap.6 ) Deceitful guru teaching enjoyment and salvation. Crafty persons and sadhus represent the Putana-tattva.
2. Sakatasura ( Chap.7 cart demon ) Represents the smashing habits of old and new bad habits, laziness and vanity.
3. Trnavarta ( Chap.7 whirlwind demon ) Represents the destruction of the pride of scholarship, learning, false arguments and the company of dry logicians and those with diabolical opinions.
4. Yamala-Arjuna trees ( Chap.10 Damodara lila ) Pride and arrogance ariing from aristocratic birth and wealth, which produces hatred toward others, debauchery, drinking, offensive speech and cruelty due to unkindness and shamelessness.
5. Vatsasura ( Chap.11 calf demon ) Krsna destroys the bad acts done out of greed under the influence of others.
6. Bakasura ( Chap.11 duck demon ) Cunningness, craft, hypocrisy, false behavior. Pure devotion can’t arise without destroying this.
7. Aghasura ( Chap.12 snake demon ) Represents removal of the sinful tendency of the mind to commit violence and harass others due to hatred and malice. This is a offense against the holy name.
8. Brahma-Vimohana ( Chap. 13 bewildering Brahma ) This removes skepticism due to the cultivation of karma and jnana; and the tendency to emphasize awe and veneration ( aišvarya ) as opposed to the sweetness of love ( madhurya ). One must avoid this offense.
9. Dhenukasura ( Chap. 15 asses killed by Balarāma ) Ignorance of the truth due to idiocy. Loss of knowledge of one’s spiritual identity; ignorance concerning the non-difference of Krsna and His name; Ignorance of our relationship with Krsna.
10. Kaliya ( Chap.16 ) Removal of vanity, maliciousness, doing wrong to others, crookedness and unkindness.
11. Extinquishing and swallowing the forest fires ( Chap. 17&18 ) Fighting against the opinions of others; inner hatred towards other communities; disregard for the religious practices of others, battles and c7onflicts.
12. Pralambasura ( Chap. 18 killed by Balarāma ) Removes licentiousness, personal gain, worship and honor.
13. Yajnic brahmanas ( Chap. 23 ) Becoming indifferent to Krsna due to pride for Varnašrama-dharma. Avoid this.
14. Stopping Indra yajna ( Chap. 24 & 25 ) Rejecting the idea of many gods and the notion that, ‘I am Brahman.’
15. Releasing Nanda Maharaja from Varuna ( Chap. 28 ) Represents destroying the idea that intoxication can increase the bliss of bhajan.
16. Sankacuda ( Chap. 34 ) Represents the awoidance of greed for name and fame, and the morbid desire for female association.
17. Vidyadhara liberated ( Chap. 34 saving Nanda from snake ) Restoration of the truth of bhakti swallowed by Mayavadis and rejecting their company.
18. Aristasura ( Chap. 36 bull demon ) Negligence to bhakti and destroying the glamour and pride of deceitful religion.
19. Kesi ( Chap. 37 horse demon ) Represents destroying vanity: ‘ I am a great devotee and preceptor.’ Destroying the pride caused by wealth and wordly attachment.
20. Vyomasura ( Chap. 37 ) Leaving the association of deceitful devotees, thieves, etc.
