To delete your entire journal, log in and go to http://www.livejournal.com/accountstatus.bml. Change your Journal Activation Status to "Deleted" and click on "Save Changes". To undelete your journal, return to the same page and change your Journal Activation Status to "Activated". Your journal and all your settings, including your Friends list, will be the same as they were before you deleted your journal.

A deleted journal can be undeleted for at least 30 days after it is deleted, but will not be visible during that time. Although your journal and User Info page will not be visible, any comments that you have made will still be visible, and your username will appear with a line through it. Any entries that you posted to communities will also still be visible. If you do not want these to show on LiveJournal anymore, you will need to find and delete them manually. There is no way to list all of the comments and entries you have made.

Once your journal has been deleted for at least 30 days, it is marked as being available for purging. Purging a journal completely removes it from the LiveJournal servers. However, purgings do not occur every 30 days, and your account will remain in the deleted stage until the next purging cycle.

If your account has been purged from the system, you will not be able to undelete it. If you would like to continue using LiveJournal after this point, you will need to create a new account.

As stated in the LiveJournal Terms of Service, Paid Accounts are non-transferable and non-refundable. If you have a Paid Account and choose to delete your journal, you will not be able to transfer the remainder of your paid time to another account or receive a refund for it.
