Frank Morrison’s paintings stunned me not only for their originality and beauty but also because of their complimentary depictions of the black woman. The body forms of the woman are not anatomically accurate but this is a purposeful technique to elongate the necks making the black women in the paintings look proud with their heads stretched forward, lengthen the limbs and emphasis our curves in an seductively elegant way.
