unpleasant rant [Jan. 10th, 2021|07:32 pm]
Previous Entry Add to Memories Tell A Friend Next Entry
There's plenty of people I know on social media posting PC, trust-the-science views (slightly less often now maybe). Very often there will be included some digs at conspiracy theorists, non-scientists, and... mummys' groups. It's all fair enough: they can think my kid should wear a mask at school, that we should all get vaccinated, that people without symptoms drive the spread of the virus, that cloth masks stop you getting a virus, that Big Pharma is benevolent, and we should all stay locked down (more or less) until we.. I don't know... borrow enough money to save the health service or something.

But when these same people do things in their own lives that go counter the restrictions, it fair blows my mind. It's akin to someone writing moralistic posts about being a vegan and then inviting their friends to a šašlik party. What's the deal? Is all this PC posting really just about cementing your position in some scientific/cultural elite, while the plebs (the dumb fucks) need telling what's good for them?

Ok that's enough: this whole thing is divisive enough, and there are plenty of good things going on. For example, round where I live, čeloveki are becoming mildly witty with each other in public - be it shop or wood. I say mildly witty because we are all - more or less- beginners at this. It's nice. The other day, after an odd interaction with the local Russian social star, I was seen off with with a 'Labais vecīt!' I could have given him a hug, but.. it's not the time, yet.

90% people are cattle, conformists with no agency. Unfortunately. Didn't know that myself till recently.

For sure, lots of people are looking around to see what the accepted intelligent point of view is: never pleasant to be considered a heretic. Having said that, if someone (including those who think like us) is ready to have a discussion about it and consider/reconsider their views, all is not lost I suppose.

Actually, I sense a swing occurring. There is more scepticism about, and more of a willingness to take some stands here and there. For example, the mana balss initiative to prevent parents from getting state aid/access to schools if they refuse to vaccine their kids against covid only got 2,000 odd votes (after about 6 weeks), compared to the relatively huge number against the mandatory mask wearing for young schoolchildren (what was it - over 50,000 after just a day or two?). Also only having 30% (I heard) of the population ready to vaccinate suggests distrust of the official line.

You might be correct about vaccines, but I am not so sure. We have, apparently new mutant strains against which the current batch of vaccines have not been tested (so I read). They might be effective against the UK strain, but people have no idea bout their efficacy against the South African strain.

Being as Big Pharma is a powerful business lobby, I fear that our freedoms will be, therefore, dependent on having had the latest updated vaccines against the latest mutant strains, and in order to keep track of this, we will need an extensive form of bio-surveillance.

The best way in my opinion to get out of this crisis in the long term, is to focus all our attempts on building up our own natural immunity - and do our best to protect those who can't do this. We should also ensure our health services can cope with a surge in demand - the like of which we are seeing here. These restrictions cripple the economy, reduce tax revenue drastically, and plunge the country into insane debt - all of which will mean we can't and won't be able to invest in health in the coming years - meaning we are ever more dependent on Big Pharma to endow is with freedoms with their vaccines.

Good business model.

Atgriezties pie dabīgās lietu kārtības ar 30+ vidējo dzīves ilgumu un bērnu mirstību lai iereibtu BigPharma? Nu... kaut-kas tur ir laikam.

I think you are exaggerating/caricaturing what I said. I was talking specifically about relying on these new vaccines as a way of combating this coronavirus - not refusing drugs/modern medicine in general.

Improving natural immunity through having a healthy lifestyle: quitting smoking, cutting down on sugar, taking Vitamin D if necessary, zinc - propolis and so on would be an excellent idea in my opinion.

I didn't really understand your last point. Do you mean we don't own anything if it can be taken from us? Sounds like a less positive spin on the WEF prediction for 2030 (you will own nothing, but you will be happy).

I don't see anything specifically different regarding new coronavirus.
And totally acceptable improving natural immunity. Just.. it does not protect against ageing, cancer, diabetes, genetic diseases and.. not so much against new coronavirus.

And about my last point. Nevis nothing, bet daudz. Vesela pasaule. Mana. Viss, kas pieder man, uzkrāts, iemantots, uzbūvēts, iemācīts - ir mans, neviens to man atņemt nevar. Tur, kur jāņem vērā arī līdzcilvēki - vairs nav mana teritorija. Pat ja tas man nepatīk. Cilvēks ir bara dzīvnieks.

It seems clear that the better natural immunity you have, the better you will be able to deal with this coronavirus, and the less need you will have for the vaccines. That is what I am talking about. I know we are all going to die sooner or later.

As for freedoms that rely on government/societal largesse, it seems to me that we have to fight for them. I fear that those of us who are sceptical about the benefitof lockdowns, vaccines etc., will have to fight very hard. but I could be wrong: time will tell.
