in search of a pearl

Why is it that you have to dig through a ton of shit,
before you can find even one pearl?

It seems like the elusive pearl also has generally an age limit,
you can reach it only once you're in your mid 30'ties.

Until then, you just have to stick in the muck and keep on shoveling,
making sure that the pile of dirt doesn't bury you completely.

not really - I was talking more about finding your place in the world, finding the one true thing that is priceless in you and is recognized by those around you

in the sense that you spend the first 30 years of your life studying pointless subjects, working for crappy bosses, doing shitty jobs and maybe if you're lucky sometime around your mid 30ties you will get a big break to a more shining life all together - the proverbial brick will fall on your head and the world will start to finally make sense and actually give back something to you without just taking and breaking

yeah, I remember a thought like 4 years ago, when I was standing in line in a shop and there was this balding man in his mid 40ties in line before me, and I saw that he had like 5 different credit cards in his wallet, including VISA gold, and then I thought something like - hey, this man has shitloads of money, but he is fucking OLD and doesnt do shit with his money. now if I had all these credit-cards NOW, I would do justice to them, I could really have some good time in my life, but I still have to wait like 30 years before I can have everything that he has, and by that time I will probably be just like him and wont need it that much anymore. something along those lines...

but this is the deal, cause right now we are beautiful and more or less healthy and can do pretty much all kinds of crap without consequences - though once we are older, we get the money and stability but are fatter, sicker and with more burdens

still, I don't think that it was really 'money' as such that I was thinking of with my 'pearl'
