Frances Ha (2012)

no sarunas ar aktrisi un filmas scenaarija liidzautori Gretu Gervigu:

"A city, just like a person, only really has meaning in relation to the person who is living through that moment. New York isn't static; it's not one thing. What we were really trying to do is work out what New York was like as a character for someone that the city isn't working out for. How hard is it to love a city and feel rejected by it at the same time? That was the same feeling Frances had about New York and also about Sophie. She loves New York so much. Running through the streets she is the embodiment of that feeling: "Holly fuck, I live in New York. How exciting is that!" At the same time she doesn' t have a home and she's not going to be able to live there which is all she wants to do. But she can' t figure out how to make it work in the city. I think that's the story of a lot of young people - or people of any age - in New York. It's a formidable place to love because it doesn't need you."
