CLIMBER
(set to music by H.Berino)

And you shall know the overwhelming power
Of solitude as you toil on alone,
Drawing towards heights where gorgon ramparts tower
And chilly flowerets shrink on creviced stone.

Then sap will fail ;and among baffling mountains
Silence will fall upon you, nerve and bone,
Flaying your strength in sight of strange dead fountains.

Round you, sky-flanged, an icy shield will lie,
And in your heart lost dreams will kindle agony.
