I find there is a weird sense of responsibility that Jesus feels. He most likely genuinely cares for the wellbeing of all sentient beings. These guys he speaks to are actually mouthpieces of legions - one legion consists of at least seven hundred. They elected an representative that Jesus has instant authority over. Jesus doesn’t simply want these beings to be destroyed. That seems caring.
