• work around JDK 10 issue "Unable to execute HTTP request: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target":
  
  ln -f -s /etc/ssl/certs/java/cacerts $JAVA_HOME/lib/security/cacerts
  
  (apt install ca-certificates-java if you are missing the file in /etc. run "update-ca-certificates" if still problems with PKIX path.)
