Typical signs of mania and hypomania for persons with Bipolar Disorder:
- extreme optimism and euphoria
- anger and agression
- inflated self-esteeem and confidence
- appetite changes (decrease), decreased need for sleep
- elevated energy and activity
- lack of focus and distractibility
- racing thoughts and rapid, erratic speach
- impulsiveness, lack of inhibition
- risky behaviors
- substance abuse (e.g. alcohol)
- bizzare thoughts and behaviors.
