- We have entered an era of hyper-solipsistic* intimacy, where the screen doesn't connect us to the Other, but merely reflects our own inflated sense of self. Love is no longer an act of externalization or vulnerability, but a demand for external validation of one's inherent "specialness".
Romantic relationships have devolved into performative self-absorption. Driven by algorithmic curation, individuals approach love with an unearned entitlement: the belief that their presence alone is the prize, requiring zero friction, zero effort, and zero compromise.
It’s an era of algorithmically induced ego-centrism. People no longer engage with the messy reality of the Other; they inhabit a digital panopticon** where they are both the main character and the sole audience, expecting love to be delivered like a custom-curated feed.
We’ve replaced relational effort with unearned entitlement. Intimacy is no longer built through shared labor, but expected as an innate right—a trophy for simply existing in one's self-proclaimed significance.
* Solipsisms ir filozofiska pārliecība, ka pastāv tikai paša apziņa. Digitālais solipsisms raksturo stāvokli, kurā ekrāni pārvērš pasauli par indivīda personīgo spoguli, liekot citiem cilvēkiem izskatīties pēc fona tēliem;
** Panoptikons - jēdziens atvasināts no 18. gadsimta angļu filozofa Džeremija Bentama idejas par ideālo cietumu- Panoptikonu, ko 20. gadsimtā slavenajā darbā "Uzraudzīt un sodīt" attīstīja Mišels Fuko. Savukārt Digitālajā Panoptikonā centrālais cietuma tornis ir izzudis; tā vietā novērošanas tīkls ir visaptverošs un decentralizēts (kameras, algoritmi, datu ieguve, "pēdas" tīklā, sociālie mediji). Lielākā atšķirība: cilvēki vairs netiek ieslodzīti panoptikonā pret savu gribu — viņi tajā ieiet brīvprātīgi un labprātīgi paši sevi eksponē.
