"If you listen to Black Metal, but you don't know what phase the moon is in, or what wild flowers are blooming then you have failed. It is shocking to me that one could be seriously interested in Black Metal and not be deeply committed to radical ecology. The music is about wild forests, unfettered rivers, nature: furious and vengeful."

When I listen to black metal, I don't see trees, forests, rivers, mist. I see crumbling concrete and razor sharp rebar. I see pavement covering the earth. The inevitable march of humans downward into the caverns they've created where they can escape the increasing radiation of the solar mega-flare. The chaining of people to their cubicles, the stench of burnt petrol fumes clogging the air. The scream of missiles,grinding of tank tracks and repeat of machine guns.
