I really think you should try switch off the news and read more books. I just did, and boy, it feels so good.

Thank you for your concern.
I am currently reading 'Gnostic Secrets of the Naassenes'.
Previous to that I read 'Memoirs of a British Agent' (about Mr. Lockhart who was the unofficial British ambassador to the Bolsheviks during WWI).
I try to avoid the official news as it is propagandised beyond credible measure. I just check in on TVNET to see what restrictions I and my family will have to endure/work around.

I have to say TVnet is a weird choice if you have to choose one source. May I suggest LSM.lv instead?

In general, if I would again turn to news (which I inevitably will at some point), my first choice would be radio.
