"Conspire" exists in the dictionary for a reason - namely, it exists as a phenomenon. Why, I have even done it myself.

A lot of irony, too, in the narrators choice of connotative, superlative language in supposedly exposing the fantasies of conspiracy theorists: "fully investigated", "absolutely extraordinary", "justified ridicule", "extraordinary fantasies", "make believe world" etc.
