Closest to immortality you can get in a godless world, I presume. ;)
The question they are struggling with (outside of the classroom) is "Who created God?"
The standard fairytale fabric is a little torn as a result. :)
Well, you can point her to St. Augustine, he is pretty slick about that, somewhat indirectly. God created Time, and it is impossible to ask what happened before that, as there was no "before" then, and in fact no "then" either. And by consequence, there was no causality to have anything that could create God.
She might struggle with that, but I really liked the fact they, independently of the influence of very part-time philosophers like yours truly (20 minutes a week on average), started wondering about the original cause.
I'll mention to her that there can't have been any time and space within which to create time and space, and see what fairytales she comes up with next.
