HTTPS uses a different port (443) from HTTP (80), it's possible for most personal firewalls to allow/deny ports depending on application (ie a ruleset).
In your case I thought perhaps your firewall was allowing FF to use HTTPS but blocking HTTP, which is strange though not impossible if you'd been playing with the firewall.
If you haven't been playing though I'd suggest a visit to the Malware and Virus removal board as a precaution. It was probably just a glitch but it's better to be safe than sorry.

Šo problēmu var mēģināt pagūglēt, gan jau neesi vienīgais/vienīgā ar šitādu kaiti. Redz te ļautiņi saka, ka firewall jāpačeko.
Varbūt pamēģini "to turn off and on again" to datoru, dažreiz pat tik muļķīgas lietas palīdz. :)
