Still no job, the system is no help.
So, I'm jobless and have been for a while. I've been applying for, on average, 5 jobs a day and in the last 3 months had one interview (didn't get the job but they said I should be happy I was picked out of over 5000 applicants (pasvītrojums mans) - great ta much help). I'm now at the point where I've used all my savings to live on so thought I'd better call my phone supplier, internet provider etc and be honest about a lack of being able to pay.
The responses were a mixture of 'bugger off' and 'we don't care'. I contacted the dole office who told me I am not liable, even though I've been paying tax for 16 years and I need to wait another 6 months! I then got in touch with my bank and after a meeting with them came out feeling like I might as well pack up some essentials and bugger off to India for 7 years. They were about as much help as syphilis.
It makes me angry that although I've worked hard and saved and paid my taxes, now I can't find a job the system will not help. If I had never had a job I'd be ok, I'd have my council house and dole money. If had had kids I can't afford I'd get even more.
I hate to think of myself as a moaner but now can't think of anything else to do. I mean, seriously, what are people in my position supposed to do to clear up the mess? Maybe at the protest I'll start throwing bricks.
So, if anyone knows of any jobs going for a designer with experience working with tangible interfaces (Microsoft Surface) or anything involving computers and pretty things, let me know.
