- par to, ka lietuva mīl mūs

- Bļa, cik jauki lietuvieši norecenzēja mūs (Židrūnu). Bučas viņiem. Tie, kas prot
lietuviski, un vēlas lasīt, cik mēs esam kruti, spiediet ŠEIT.
Mūsu lietuviešu draudzene Milda to visu roughly pārtulkoja angliski. Nevaru galvot par tulkojuma kvalitāti, jo man riebjas lietuviešu pretīgā valoda. Tātad, ja vēlies lasīt, cik mēs (un mūsu jaunais albums; NOPĒRC TO!) esam kruti angliski, tad dari to šeit:
The legend of the creation of the band: Žydrūnas Girdauskas (in Latvian – Židrūns Girdausks), born in Mažeikiai, at his 8y.o. was moved to the region of Pilsrundalė near Bauska, Latvia. He was writing music and songs, in 2003 decided to throw his first performance.
So Židrūnas got up on stage and made this really poor performance. Future members of the band were the only ones that liked it, they approached the musician and said: „Your songs are fine, but you sing like a wizen vegetable. Let us play your music, which you can create.“ Židrūnas accepted the offer with a condition that the band will be named ŽIDRŪNS. Such compositions as „Giedrius“ and „Rūta“ kind of proves the Lithuanian origins of the band, but it is not worth to count on it completely.
More attentive music lovers should have already noticed this colorful quartet from Latvia – the band more than once held concerts in our latitudes, are fellows with Colours Of Bubbles from Šiauliai. Started to play in 2003, several years ago “židrūnsi“ released their debut album „Židrūnam sāp“, and this year they came with their newest creation with very yellow title („dzeltenais“ latv. = yellow).
Nicely released digi-pack from its typography doesn’t completely remind the music in the album. Yellow 3D needles grown from snow would be more suitable for minimal techno performers. And it perfectly suits the eccentric image of Židrūns: few years ago the musicians „portrayed“ bus drivers and the newest choice of theirs – high school sport outfits and stripes on their heads. They are not afraid to be funny, different, sincere, ironic, not cool.
Almost an hour with 12 Židrūns` compositions doesn't prolong, as it is full of sound expression of colorful emotions. There is much of indie/rock mathematics: precisely performed complicated transitions and re-selections, changing one another, prepared sounds, but also the feeling „between the notes“, sometimes even an open nerve of emo is fondled. Latvian language and specific accords reminds of creation of Latvian bands Depo, dun dun, Baložu pilni pagalmi, Inokentijs Mārpls, Pērkons, Bērnības milicija and others.
The musicians do not also hide that they often listen to traditional and folk music (an example – composition „Dzivite“) and such bands as Shellac, At the Dive-In, Reel Big Fish, the Fraterlis, Cult of Luna, the Battles and so on. Even if in general „Židrūnsi“ strongly dislike different „bests“ and other absolutisms.
Have put this all together, the oddly monotonic garage/indie with mathrock and emo additions is heard. Sometimes it seems that it is something like low tempo re-filtered The Hives. But „židrūnsi“ break the backbone of traditional garage rock‘n‘roll and consciously glue it awry, in that way growing it over with multi-stage formulas of transitions and „draining“ it with Baltic melancholy with fair shade of psychedelics. - 2 atstāja kaut koatstāj kaut ko
