"I've always found it very important that it was the three women who were there at the foot of his cross holding vigil. They didn't get scared, and they didn't abandon him. There's something very important about the feminine energy here.

In a mythic sense, male energy is often portrayed as big and strong and fearless and courageous, but underneath that pretense and bluster, there is weakness. Often times when we're pretending to be fearless or to be courageous, we pretend because deep inside we actually are afraid. Deep inside, we've touched upon a sense of insecurity, so we fake it, and try to look courageous or fearless.

Feminine energy has very different dynamic. Feminine energy is very connected with the earth, with something which and grounded and nourishing. Above all else, the feminine is connected with a deep and profound love - a love that is its own courage, its own fearlessness. It has no bluster because it's real, rooted right into the soil of Being itself. And so these three important women in Jesus' life have not abandoned him. They are there, standing vigil, caring for him to the last breath of his life."
