Latvijas banka runā mums visiem:
There is no alternative: Latvia is not - nor would it like to be - among the underdeveloped countries whose debts are forgiven.

Atagadinu ES ekonomikas komisāra H. Almunjas vēstule: "However, financial assistance is not meant to be used to originate new loans to businesses and households. As regards foreign reserves, the aim is to ensure that base money remains adequately backed by net international reserves in order to preserve the credibility of the exchange rate regime.

Given these specific purposes, it is important not to raise ungrounded expectations among the general public und the social partners, and, equally, to counter misunderstandings that may arise in this respect. Worryingly, we have witnessed some recent evidence in Latvian public debate of calls for part of the financial assistance to be used inter alia for promoting export industries or to stimulate the economy through increased spending at large. It is important actively to stem these misperceptions."

Latvijas ārējās parāds: Valdība - 3,9 milj.
MFI (bankas) - 10,1 milj
