[..] hundreds and thousands of all classes and ranks crowding past each other, are they not all human beings with the same interest in being happy? and still they crowd by one another and their only agreement is the brutal indifference, the unfeeling isolation of each in his private interest.
pati jau arī neesmu diez ko labāka, eju tik visiem garām, nevienam īsti virsū neskatoties, bet ja tā pavisam atklāti, man galīgi nebūtu iebildumu, ja garāmgājēji tomēr nebūtu tik ļoti pārņemti ar sevi.
