is that there are these journalists who are after a great story, spinning this tale and collecting millions of listeners, who are trying to "solve the crime" themselves, putting up evidence boards in highschool english classrooms, as if it were some sort of a game. meanwhile it's actual people's actual lives. i wonder sometimes how the family of the murdered girl feels, with these white priviledge people making a thriller tale out of a death, really unexplained, pointless and violent. considering that the show might give the convicted guy a get out of jail free card. considering that there are these old witnesses who freak out when reporters show up at their door. there might be something slightly questionable about the whole thing. something like the andy warhol electric chair and carcrash paintings - the american slightly sick obsession with the macabre, their tendency to make criminals into heroes of sorts. meanwhile, i can't wait for the next episode. |
