ir vēl tāds projekts Linux From Scratch (http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/).. uzlikt tādu un nedaudz iedziļināties ir diezgan izglītojoši.. ;)

bet, protams, jāsāk ir ar pašu vienkāršāko.. piemēram: mandrake.
