PhD Studentship Dedicated to the Folklore and Literature of the Caucasus Region
Thanks to a generous donation, the Bakhtin Centre and Department of Russian and Slavonic Studies invites applications for a fully-funded PhD scholarship dedicated to the folklore and literature of the Caucasus region.
Proposals may fall within the areas in which the department has expertise:
1) Marrism, Semantic Palaeontology and the Study of Caucasian Folklore in the USSR 1900-40;
2) Caucasian folklore and Georgian literature in the 20th Century;
3) Caucasian Folklore and the delineation of national cultures in the USSR.
Fluency in Russian language is essential, and knowledge of one Caucasian language would be an advantage.
The scholarship includes all University fees, a grant for living expenses and funds for approved research expenses. Potential applicants are encouraged to contact Professor Craig Brandist c.s.brandist@sheffield.ac.uk to discuss possible projects. In the first round of selection we will require a cv, a research proposal of c.400 words, and a covering letter explaining your interest. These should reach Professor Brandist by 6 June 2014. |
