Texas state Senator Wendy R. Davis of Texas is conducting a 13-hour filibuster today to block SB 5, a bill that would shut down all but 5 abortion clinics in the state and ban abortion after 20 weeks. Davis, who is not allowed to eat, drink, lean on anything, or use the restroom during the filibuster, intends to stall the legislation until midnight tonight, when the special session of the Texas legislature ends.
