The point was that their shit is still standing or laying in this case after 2000 years while modern roads barely even last a few years before they start falling apart, and even without automobile traffic they'd hardly last a century let alone 20 of them.
If the Romans had cars they'd probably figure out a way to make roads that lasted just as long because the Romans were chads while moderntards are cheap ass pussies.
