I'm speculating, but I think rusty is right. The stock market is a popularity contest, actual earnings are secondary. Elon is a meme lord surfing a clown world tsunami. When stonks go up, he capitalizes another pet project. Money is fake and gay, and the stock market is doubly so.

All I'm getting from this is that Twitter is a ridiculously bloated company. Thousands of employees and contractors fired... and the only things affected seem to be the propaganda & censorship department, and bloatware nobody wanted.
