Titus Andronicus is one of the most violent, bloody and cruel plays ever written. If someone made a realistic film of it today, many of the scenes would be so disgusting that no cinema would be allowed to show it. In this play many people are murdered; a young woman is raped and has her hands cut off and her tongue cut out so that she cannot identify her attackers; a father kills his daughter; a mother is ...icked into eating a pie which contains her own children; a man is buried up to his neck and straved to death.
