Bijs laiks, kad Stenlijs Filips (John Cusack) pilnībā pārvaldīja savu dzīvi. Viņš sapņoja par kalpošanu valstij un militāro karjeru. Šis sapnis nepiepildījās tikai sliktās redzes dēļ. Tagad viņš strādā veikalā, kamēr viņas sieva - seržants, cīnās Irākā. Tikmēr viņš audzina savas meitas - divpadsmitgadīgo Heidiju un astoņgadīgo Donnu. Lai gan Stenlijs ir mīlošs tēvs, viņam ir problēmas ar emociju izrādīšanu, tāpēc meitenes ilgojas pēc savas mātes. Darba paciešanu un cenšanos būt labam tēvam iztraucē traģēdija. Apņēmies tikt ar to galā viens pats, viņš nesaprot, kā to atklāt meitām. Izmisīgi atliekot paziņojumu, viņš ierosina spontānu ceļojumu. Cenšoties atvēlēt viņām vēl pēdējos laimīgās bērnības mirkļus, Stenlijs atklāj savu maigāko pusi, braukdams uz Donnas izvēlēto galamēŗķi -  izklaides parku Apburtajiem Dārziem. Jo tālāk viņi brauc, jo vairāk Stenlijs saprot, ka kādreiz būs jāpastāsta patiesība, kas uz visiem laikiem izmainīs viņu dzīves.

Tajā filmā viss likās tik īsts, ka man šķita, ka skatos dokumentālo filmu. Viss bija tā kā tas, manuprāt, varētu būt arī īstajā dzīve. Bez visādiem izskaistinājumiem un Holivudas filmu cienīgām beigām. (tomēr man patīk šie izskaistinājumu)
